Man Linux: Main Page and Category List

NAME

printconf - automatically configure attached USB and parallel printers

SYNOPSIS

       printconf [--dry-run] [--verbose]

DESCRIPTION

This manual page briefly documents the printconf command.

printconf automatically detects and optionally configures printers
attached to Linux-based systems using the Foomatic printing system.

OPTIONS

       -c, --class CLASS
Assign printers to the specified CLASS (CUPS only). -m,
--parallel-module Reload Linux kernel modules to allow auto-
              detection of newly-connected printers.

       -n, --dry-run, --no-action
Detect printers, but don’t actually configure them. This option
              is useful for testing purposes.

       -p, --papersize PAPERSIZE
Set the specified PAPERSIZE for each queue created. Common
              choices are A4 and letter.

       -s, --spooler SPOOLER
Use the specified SPOOLER instead of the automatically-detected
spooler. Values include CUPS and LPRng.

       -v, --verbose
Show additional progress information, including notification of
devices for which no autodetection data was found.

NOTES

Autodetection of parallel printers may require your computer’s parallel
port to be in "bidirectional," "EPP," or "ECP/EPP" mode; this is a
       setting in your computer’s BIOS.
