Man Linux: Main Page and Category List

NAME

praat - doing phonetics by computer

SYNOPSIS

       praat

DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the praat command.

This manual page was written for the Debian distribution because the
original program does not have a manual page.

praat is a program for speech analysis and synthesis. Through its
graphical interface, several speech analysis functionalities are
available: spectrograms, cochleograms, and pitch and formant
extraction. Articulatory synthesis, as well as synthesis from pitch,
formant, and intensity are also available. Other features are
segmentation, labelling using the phonetic alphabet, and computation of
statistics. Praat is configurable and extensible through its own
scripting language and has provisions for communicating with other
       programs.

SEE ALSO

praat has an on-line documentation; just launch praat and look at the
       Help menu entry.

For further information, see the Praat website (www.praat.org). A very
good Beginner's Guide is available at
